Incubation of Eggs
The incubation period for pheasants is 25 days. Once a week the stored eggs are set in the incubator, this facilitates the hatching of the chicks on the same day.
The eggs remain in the incubators for 21 days where they are automatically turned every hour and maintained at 37.5°C.
For the final 4 days the eggs are transferred to the “hatchers” where the temperature is 37° C. The eggs no longer require turning, and so are placed in baskets in which the chicks can hatch.
After hatching the day old chicks are transferred into the brooder huts.
